Zuma Energía, AINDA, and ICATECH Renew Alliance to Strengthen
Training and Employability in Renewable Energy in Chihuahua
● Industrial growth and new investments in Mexico require clean energy and skilled professionals to meet environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
● Chihuahua, one of Mexico’s top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) and among the five states with the highest solar radiation, holds a unique opportunity to drive both energy transition and economic growth.
● Zuma Energía and ICATECH celebrate a year of joint efforts strengthening technical capabilities and employability across Chihuahua communities.
Chihuahua, Chihuahua, November 2025. Committed to promoting specialized technical training, employability, and sustainable development in the state, Zuma Energía, AINDA —through its Jaguar Solar portfolio— and the Instituto de Capacitación para el Trabajo del Estado de Chihuahua (ICATECH) renewed their collaboration agreement, reaffirming a strategic alliance that promotes renewable energy training and the creation of new job opportunities in this growing sector.
The renewal of this agreement represents the continuation of a joint effort that, during its first year of implementation, strengthened the technical skills of hundreds of Chihuahuans, contributing to the country’s energy transition and the region’s economic development.
Within the context of Mexico’s industrial and manufacturing expansion and the rising demand for clean energy infrastructure, Zuma Energía and AINDA have worked alongside ICATECH to train technical talent capable of responding to the sector’s challenges. Between January 2023 and April 2025 alone, 699 private investment announcements were recorded in the country, many of them linked to the use of renewable energy to meet sustainability commitments.
Chihuahua —a leading recipient of Foreign Direct Investment with more than USD 936 million accumulated— offers optimal conditions to consolidate itself as a national leader in solar generation, being one of the five states with the highest average solar radiation (5.3 kWh/m² per day). This positions it as a strategic hub for the energy transition and the development of specialized technical talent.
During the first year of collaboration, 285 men and 277 women from the municipalities of Jiménez, Camargo, Ahumada, Galeana, and Nuevo Casas Grandes participated in 16 training courses, totaling 487 hours of instruction with official academic credit endorsed by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP). The training areas included renewable energies, basic electricity, computing, automotive mechanics, STEM, artificial intelligence, and solar panel installation and maintenance, achieving a 93% certification rate (522 graduates).
In the area of the Jaguar Solar portfolio —which includes the Ahumadas, Terroncitos, and El Trece plants with a total capacity of 216 MW, 288 people received training, with a 94.1% certification rate. These facilities prevent the emission of approximately 300,000 tons of CO₂ annually, demonstrating the project’s positive environmental and social impact.
The renewal ceremony was attended by José Arturo Morales Reyes, General Director of ICATECH; Abraham Fuentes, Senior Counsel and Head of Social Affairs; Sergio Luja, Senior Investment Associate at AINDA Energía e Infraestructura; as well as representatives from the Secretaría de Innovación y Desarrollo Económico of the State of Chihuahua.
ICATECH’s General Director, José Arturo Morales Reyes, emphasized that the renewal consolidates the joint work between government, industry, and community: “With this renewal, we reaffirm our commitment to technical education and sustainability. We want more people to receive training in renewable energy and to be part of Chihuahua’s energy future.”
Meanwhile, Alberto Robles, Director of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality at Zuma Energía, stated: “At Zuma Energía, we firmly believe that technical training drives community development and the energy transition. We celebrate this first year of collaboration with ICATECH and are excited to renew our alliance to continue strengthening the job skills that open opportunities in the sector.”
Likewise, Sergio Luja of AINDA highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen local talent: “Enhancing technical capabilities and employability drives Chihuahua’s economic and social growth, reinforcing its leadership in renewable generation. We are excited to continue this collaboration for the benefit of the communities surrounding the Jaguar Solar Park.”
Thanks to this alliance, ICATECH will launch new training programs focused on solar energy, photovoltaic system maintenance, and clean technologies, enabling more Chihuahuans to acquire high-level technical skills and take an active role in the state’s energy development.
